Our permanent team is composed of three friends sharing the same dream: enable your discovery of traditional sailing between Islands and Whales on board our classic yacht. You will find hereafter a few words about each of us and the reasons why we decided to start this great adventure. Looking forward to meeting you very soon...
CAPTAIN - WILL GUIDE AND OVERSEE ACTIVITIES AND INTERACTIONS WITH THE CETACEANS
Welcoming you on board the Norda is a project I hold close to my heart, because the idea of fulfilling and transmitting my passion for traditional sailing has never left me.
Indeed, as a 16 year old, I decided to leave everything behind me and go to work on an old traditional rigged ship where my tasks led me to discover another passion: whales and dolphins. On board the Marguerite explorer, I met the most influential person I have ever encountered, Swanny, who is a reference through the world of old sail boats, but especially in the area of cetaceans' observation. After 20 years of chartering with tourists, he decided to put his focus on scientific research in the marine world. He has written a book describing the birth of his passion for whales and dolphins. He taught me everything I know.
Today I would like to bring to my clients the authenticity that they are looking for, as well as offering strong emotions and sensations from time gone by, and maybe presenting the opportunity to live childhood dreams. In addition to that I hold dear to me the idea of parents being able to spend an unforgettable vacation with their children without worrying about overspending their budget and safety issues.
Spoken languages: English and French, Spanish currently improving during the restoration of the Norda in Galicia
As a kid I would answer "Clown!" when asked "What would you like to do when you grow up?". 30 years later, as a trainer and consultant in career management, my day to day consists in helping people to reach a professional objective with a pragmatic approach in friendly and joyful atmosphere. Not that far from being a clown after all...
As far as sailing is concerned, I grew up being told I was almost born on a boat. As a result, a few hours spent sailing are enough for me to travel through time and relive happy memories from my childhood. During the past years, I experienced 2 life defining trips and sailed 3 times around the Cape Horn on a 25m schooner: the first time during 2 weeks around the Tierra del Fuego and across the Beagle Canal and the second, during 5 weeks, to reach Antarctica... leaving me with a strong urge to get back to the ocean more permanently!
When I met Gordon and heard about is project, it stroke me: if he likes my cooking, I am ready for a new step in my life where I can gather everything I like doing: welcome people in a friendly and extraordinary environment, prepare little delicacies for everybody and accompany them whether it is on their excursions or eventually in their personal or professional development upon request..
Spoken languages: French and English, knowledge of Spanish and German
IN CHARGE OF MEALS, EXCURSIONS AND CORPORATE TRAINING ON BOARD
“Making sure everything goes well” That’s the motto that guides me through the day. Househusband for over 2 years, I look after my children and my wife. With Swiss German origins I have that punctilious side that is needed to ensure that everything stays on track and to know when to apply the brakes. As a real homebody I’m looking forward to answering questions and managing the reservations of our future guests from my office installed purposefully in our farm in Bioley-Ojulaz.
Indeed, I revel in helping people. Having grown up in a touristic village, it became part of my daily routine to deal with people from different horizons and languages such as German, English, French and Spanish. What’s more, my experience in the travel industry as a travel guide and host for Kuoni as well as my experience in dealing with international travellers as travel advisor, salesperson and in the banking industry has given me a perfect overview of the needs and expectations of our future clients.
Finally, the destination of Tenerife is particularly close to me as I have worked there for over a year. So I have intimate knowledge of that region where I welcomed and guided thousands of Swiss tourists during their holidays.
